Jerome LawrenceBiography

Jerome Lawrence

A graduate of Georgia State University (GSU) with a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree, Jerome Lawrence has studied for many years with Joseph Perrin, a world renowned artist and head emeritus of GSU. Jerome Lawrence has a diverse base of admirers and his paintings can be found in the collections of a former U.S. president, a presiding Bishop, a board chairman and many others who value his work. Extremely grateful for his success thus far, Jerome Lawrence believes that beauty is to be found everywhere and beautiful art should be available to everyone. He gives back to the community through his commitment to and involvement in the field of mental health. He is a past member of the Governing Board of the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network and, since being introduced in 2002 to former first lady, Rosalynn Carter, Jerome Lawrence has donated numerous paintings to nonprofit organizations. His donations to The Carter Center have brought as much as $13,000.00 for a single painting at auction.

Jerome Lawrence's solo exhibitions in Georgia include galleries such as Sabra Gallery, Ferst Center for the Arts at Georgia Tech, Chances Gallery, City Gallery East, VSA Arts for All Gallery, and others. His artwork is part of the documentary Shadow Voices & Building on Faith by Mennonite Media, and he has been interviewed by CNN news, WXIA-TV and WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia.
